The Update Manager supports the delivery of torrent broadcasting to all the FrostWire community. This will allow us to lower bandwidth costs if we decide to distribute an upload using bittorrent trackers.
FrostWire startup time back to normal, no more waiting for Chat window to load, the chat is now loaded on a background thread
As of 4.13.3, we are proud to announce that we’re now partners with IAC Search & Media (Ask.com/AskJeeves) on the distribution of the free Ask Toolbar. The success of this relationship will ensure the perpetual continuity of FrostWire’s absolutely free Peer-2-Peer tool and also improve the evolutionary technology behind it.
About:
FrostWire is an open-source peer-to-peer (P2P) file-sharing program. It uses the Gnutella network and is heavily based on the better-known LimeWire program. It also recently included BitTorrent support.
The project was started in September 2005 by members of the LimeWire open-source community, after LimeWires distributor considered placing blocking code which it was developing in response to RIAA pressure and the threat of legal action in light of the U.S. Supreme Courts decision in MGM Studios, Inc. v. Grokster, Ltd. When eventually activated, the code could block its users from sharing unlicensed files. FrostWire was first released in October 2005.
