Thank you!
I was a longtime user of Skype 2.8 for Mac. Today I upgraded to 5.0 for Mac. HUGE mistake.
The "just right" 2.8 interface was gone -- replaced by a bloated, unshrinkable, all-but-unusable interface. A nightmare, because the old Skype 2.8 was well integrated into my daily life: a very skinny column lived on the right side of my screen, out of the way but readily available and visible at all times -- listing 99% of the people I would normally need to call, plus their phone number (which I included in the "name" for just such at-a-glance reference).
No icons, no nothing. Just the facts, ma'am. Precisely what I needed, without getting in the way.
Skype 5.0 was a revelation of the worst sort -- giving me lots of what I didn't need, with no option to ONLY get what I really did need. An utter and complete waste of time, its bloated ass blotting out a quarter of my screen. No more efficient-call-list. No more enjoying the convenience of all my key contacts visible while I work.
Cut to the final scene: OldApps.com saved my butt. Skype 2.8 is restored to my 13-inch universe.
Thank you!
