Ouch... You might missed the skype installation just by few Mhz...
I know version 2.0.0.6 had many problems with 700 MHz processor so try using Skype 1.5.0.80 (22 MB)
Hi-
First, I appreciate any help that anyone can give me. I just tried installing Skype on my mac. I downloaded the newest version of Skype 2.6.0.151 and went through all of the instructions. However, when I try and click on the Skype icon, nothing happens. The system requirements do say G4 800MHz or faster. I have a 700 MHz processor. Might this be the problem? If so, can someone tell me which older version of Skype I can download? Like I mentioned earlier, I have mac OS 10.3.9 700 MHz Power PC G4 processor.
Again, thank you so much in advance for all of your help. I truly do appreciate it!

Start with version 1.3 and move on, one of them has to work.

im running OS X 10.1 PUMA on a 500mhz G3 768meg RAM (dont laugh i got it for free), what version of skype should i download and run, ive tried a few from the oldest to the newest and a couple in between and either the image wont mount and install or it installs and the skype icon wont do anything after its clicked, ie. the program wont run. any help would be great as im sort of new to the MAC world. ps. ill be upgrading to leopard soon but will be stuck with this for the time being
I just installed a new hard drive on my iBookG4 running OS 10.3.9 and have tried dozens of times (in different browsers, with different apps for opening .dmg files) to successfully download a Skype version (2.5 or 2.6) that will support video. Version 1.5.0.8 installs and opens just fine, but does not support video, and therefore my daughter continues to be disappointed that I don't 'show up' for storytime! Like Sonia and stressteddy, the new versions copy into my apps folder but then do nothing. Any ideas?
I forgot to mention also that I successfully had a video version running on my old hard drive on the same OS, and am not tech savvy enough to know what factors might have changed to cause this problem on the new one (it hasn't been much fun trying to get other apps to download either...). Thanks for any help anyone can provide!
Also, error messages that come up on Safari are 'no mountable systems' and 'codec overrun.'
So you haven't installed a newer version of skype yet?
We help not because we need to but we help because we want to.........there's a big difference between "need" and "want"
