    Default quicktime for win2000sp4

What would be the versions to get for quicktime or quicktime alternative for a windows2000sp4 and x86 processor? Does the quicktime alternative require itunes or additional codec? Also, I'm getting the chipmunk vocals in WMP but I haven't troubleshooted that yet, I want to hear what quicktime does.

Versions between Quicktime 4 and 7 of quicktime supports Windows 2000. I suggest to get Quicktime 6.5.2 for Windows (QuickTime Player 6.52 (12 MB)) That was the most recent version developed by apple for Win 2000.

Also Quicktime Alternative supports Win 2K from the beginning so I'm sure any version of Quicktime alternative will support the Windows 2000.

And lastly, the best program that I recommend installing is VLC Player. It has many codecs built in so you will not have to install anything separately.

Apple doesn't provide much info on old versions that I can find (on apple.com), but one item I did find was a manual for quicktime 6.4 which indicated it required a pentium processor; in "my computer" on my computer it says "computer:x86 family 6 "etc., which I suppose means that I am sub-pentium (I bought it used). Presumably ver6.5 would be the same. Since I read on this and other sites that there are issues with getting quicktime fully uninstalled I don't want to experiment with "better" versions...for a while I had their version they're offering now-7.4?-downloaded and it didn't work well...
Pleased to hear about Q.alternative supporting 2000 but I wonder about x86. Any dangers in trying it? Probably it'll just say "Sorry" at install

x86 would mean that you have a 32-bit version so I'm certain that the Q. Alternative will have to work on your system. And of course if you have any doubts, just install VLC player, it would be much reliable. But I wounder if it can actually play the quicktime filetypes!?
