hey! That does suck. Have you ever tried restoring the ipod to its original firmware? (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60983)

Also if you can let me know how old it this ipod and what generation it is; i can may be suggest few more things that you can try on.

See if this helps...

Quote:
Plug in iPod
If you get the error, then delete the "Play Counts" file from ?:\iPod_Control\iTunes\
Eject iPod
Plug it back in
If you still get the error, then delete the play counts file in ?*:\iPod_Control\iTunes AGAIN & reset all play counts in itunes
Eject iPod
Plug in
Cross Fingers
Enjoy your error-less iPod

If that doesnt help. Try this

Quote:
Step 1: Set your iPod to be used as an external hard drive so that it appears as a drive letter in your computer.

Step 2: Open "My Computer," then select "Tools," then "Folder Options," then "View."

Step 3: Check the box that says "Show Hidden Files and Folders." Note: The reason you couldn't find the file before is that it was in a hidden folder.

Step 4: Double click the drive letter that corresponds to your iPod.

Step 5: Double click the "iPod_Controls" folder.

Step 6: Double click the "iTunes" folder.

Step 7: Delete the "Play Counts" file within the "iTunes folder."

Good luck.
