    Default ipod video

I have a ipod video. When i plug it into my computer, the battery icon on the top-right of the ipod says charged. This only takes a minute. When I take it off the computer the battery quickly goes down to almost nothing. I have tried restoring and it dosent work. On my laptop, i can charge the ipod, no problem. Is it my computer? how do I fix this?

    Thank you

Leave the ipod pugged in over night and if the same thing happens the next day, the battery is our. Have someone replace it.

Thanks for your reply but i have a question. I tried what you said already and it didn't work. If the battery is out, then how come it works on my laptop? Everything else works fine on this computer except this ipod. My brother's ipod works fine on this computer. My computer dosent recognize the ipod after 10 seconds of plugging it in and it says on the ipod that the ipod is charged and it takes me to the music screen. The ipod still has almost no battery left.

    thank you

It works on your laptop because the USB 2.0 provides 12V power to the ipod. It seems like the battery is not holding the charge more than 12-15 seconds. You should have the battery of the ipod replaced.

Watch this video on how to replace your ipod battery on your own.

No, when i plug it in my laptop, the ipod holds the charge and it plays fine for hours whereas on my computer it dosent even charge the ipod and gives me the false information that the ipod is charged. If the ipod is getting charged on the laptop, then how come i need to change the battery? Dosent that mean that there's something wrong with my computer?

Thank you so very much for your reply plz help me. waiting for your reply on this.

Oh i now see the problem. Your usb port on your computer is bad. That's why the ipod is showing its charged. I'll look on some forums this weekend and get back to you for this issue.

Your USB port is grounded. Cases like this, you should disable the slot by disconnecting it from the main board, or have someone with more knowledge to do it for you. After that the other USB ports will function just fine.

Usually, at the back of your CPU tower, there are 2 to 4 slots for USB. Try one then the other one until you have tried all slots, Maybe one of them will work. If all slots doesn't work in your iPod, it means it went bad/grounded only for you iPod.

Try charging your iPod using an iPod Universal Charger plugged directly through a AC Wall Socket. If the problems still occurs then your iPod battery is having problems, have it serviced through a Service Center or a iPod Technician.
