    You can either disregard the updates or if you have a software informer, you have to uninstall it. Software informer will keep on telling you even just in installation of old files. I hope this help.

    Download version 7 and then go to MessPatch Light: quick.basic.universal see if that helps.

    I have the exact same problem, i have downloaded every different version of Msn Messenger and it keeps telling me to download the newest version, but i do not want that one because it does not have the "send" button-the enter button on this laptop is fried- So now i cant log on to Msn Messenger untill i install a version that is, in my case, totally useless??? I would like to know if you were able to solve this problem and how you got it to work. Thanks!

    Can you give me your email address and the version of MSN messenger you're using and what errors do you encounter.
    Thank you and hoping for your requirements.

    My email is tru-elf@hotmail.com. So basicly when i click on msn messenger, to log myself in, this is what shows up; A newer version is available. You must install the newer version in order to continue. Would you like to do this now? yes-no what's new. Then i say no and it does not log me in it shuts down Msn Messenger. The version i have installed is the 8.5 beta. My pc runs on Vista home basic. Thank you for your reply and i hope you are able to help me out here! :-}

    1) Uninstall MsnMessenger. !!
    2) goto Program Files and make sure all file is deleted related with msn messengers. !

    and now install msnmessenger again.

    it happen sometimes when you just upgrade old version with new and registry file is not clear enough

    if possible then use
    Advance Uninstaller this software. this software is 21 Days trail version. but will delete all file.

    Vishal, i did like you told me to, i used Advance Uninstaller to get rid of Msn Messenger and all related files. Then today, i wanted to put the Msn Messenger -same version- back on the pc and this is what shows up; There was a problem with this installation. Windows live messenger was not installed. System error details Code: 0x8000ffff Description: Catastrophic failure. So i tried doing it again, and again the same message came up. What do you suggest? Anyone?

    It seems you accidentally deleted a file or an important file that runs the installation of MSN Messenger. All you need to do is to system restore your computer to an earlier time and when done, do not uninstall MSN messenger. You need to delete it not uninstall it. Uninstalling of MSN Messenger might pull some other files and also delete it so all you need to do is delete the folder containing the MSN Messenger. Let me know if this work?
