Unleashing Potential for Change
I figured out how to do it!!
Navigate to this key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\ Setup\Installed Versions
and change the values of the 3 subkeys to whats listed below (This makes it look like you have wmp9)
"wmp.dll"=hex:00,00,09,00,a4,0b,00,00
"wmploc.dll"=hex:00,00,09,00,a4,0b,00,00
"wmplayer.exe"=hex:00,00,09,00,a4,0b,00,00
AFTER DOING THIS you have to UNINSTALL YOUR PLAYER!!
Goto START/RUN and enter this:
"C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\setup_wm.exe" /Uninstall
When you reboot then you can re-install WMP9 if you wish![]()

No Need to uninstall Windows Media Player just to play for movie or dvd.
Add Video Codec to help play movie or dvd on it.
Download here for Video Utilities.

Please try this steps for Windows Media Player 10
If you have installed Windows Media Player 10, you can roll back to the version of the Player that was on your computer before installing Windows Media Player 10.
To roll back from Windows Media Player 10 to a previous version, do the following:
1. In Control Panel (Category View), click Add or Remove Programs.
2. Click Remove a program, and then do one of the following:
If you are running Windows XP Service Pack 2, select the Show updates check box (at the top of the list), click Windows Media Player 10 (in the Windows Updates section), and then click Change/Remove.
- or -
If you are running Windows XP Service Pack 1 or earlier, click Windows Media Player 10, and then click Change/Remove.
Have a great day!
