    Question clp files-decode error

Hi everyone I'm new here and hope I'm posting in the right place. I recentrly made the big jump from wind98se to vista. So I am still in the process of cleaning up my oldie and transferring stuff to the new computer. Here's my problem: I used to save urls, registration info, html snippets and such conveniently as clp files. Transferred them over to my new machine, and after finding out that the viewer is no longer available, downloaded irfanview. But when I try to open these clp files, I get a decode error. So then I landed at oldapps, downloaded the 2.85 version, and am still getting the same error. Anyone have any idea how I can save my clp files?
Thanks a trillion to anyone taking the time to read this and possibly even respond!!!!!

We will try to look for a solution.
We help not because we need to but we help because we want to.........there's a big difference between "need" and "want"

Well, it seems to me that you have now solved your own problem. If you can open the clp files on your old system, paste them into a text file and transfer the text file to the new computer.

Some Web sites have also suggested that Irfan View can be used to open clp files.

The point was to transfer the clp files to the new machine and use as is. I have quite a lot and though tedious, I would do as you suggested. Hopefully I will be able to get around this way of retaining the info on my clp files. In my original post I did mention downloading Irfan view as I followed the same suggestions, which is what brought me to oldapps in the first place. But both new and older version give the same decode error. But thanks for looking into it for me

I visited the link (again) and could not find the clp file extension listed on the page that has all the supported file types listed. I had previously read somewhere that the 2.85 version opens clp files. I have both this and the newest versions of irfan view but both (as mentioned in my original post) give me the decode error. Thanks for trying to help
