Thanks for setting out these steps. They have worked for my iTunes problem, which stemmed from downloading iTunes 7.
ALSO: Does anyone if a iPod video (5th gen)will work with this version of iTunes ?
Thanks
2After seeing my Mac crash for the past few days, I successfully downgraded to iTunes 6.0.5--and everything is back to normal. I've never had this much trouble with an Apple product before...
For those of you who have not yet installed iTunes 7.0, you should avoid it like the plague and wait for a bugfix release. For those unlucky enough to have installed 7.0 and want to go back to 6.0.5, here's how I did it:
* Delete The iTunes Application (located in /Applications)
* Delete "com.apple.iTunes.plist" (located in ~/Library/Preferences/)
* Delete "iTunesX.pkg" (located in /Library/Receipts)
* Delete "iTunes Library" (located in ~/Music/iTunes)
* Copy "iTunes Library 2006-09-12" (located in ~/iTunes/Previous iTunes Libraries) to ~/Music/iTunes
* Rename "iTunes Library 2006-09-12" (now located in ~/Music/iTunes) to "iTunes Library"
* Download
iTunes 6.0.4 (OldApps.com)
iTunes6.0.5.dmg106 [apple.com] and install
Use this information at your own risk! These are the procedures I used; they may not work for everyone. I'm not responsible if you brick your Mac.
