    Default iTunes 7.0

OK, I am about to pull my hair out......I downloaded windows version, thinking I downloaded Mac version. I wanted to delete this entire post for now, but was unable to. I will re-post after downloading Mac version.

I am using Mac G3 with OS X 10.3.9 (768 MB SDRAM) and itunes version 4.
I had been using an ipod shuffle and had no problems .

I bought an ipod nano and hooked it to Mac with USB cable. A box came up on screen saying I need to download itunes version 7.

I downloaded itunes version 7.0 (Mac X version). I got thru the initial part of installing but a box came up saying:
"iTunesX cannot be installed on this computer.
Please quit iTunes before performing this update."

I downloaded some music from itunes, but they do not even show up on ipod's music menu. I can hook up ipod to Mac and see them but not when ipod is disconnected.

I can load itunes music from granddaughter's PC. That may be part of the problem, but I still should be able to download itunes 7.0 for Mac.

Go ahead and install iTunes 7.6 from our iTunes for Mac page.

That should be able to run your iPod nano and ipod shuffle at the same time.

Hooray........That did it. I got iTunes 7.6 installed. Thanks a lot. I am not sure, but I might have had iTunes 4 open and that was the problem earlier, but it did install OK and that's all I care about. Thanks again.

    I have another problem:
The iPod Nano 2nd Gen I bought has Windows format, Software ver: 1.1.3.
It has some songs on it that I don't want to lose. If I re-format Nano to my Mac's iTunes, I will lose them, as far as I can tell.

I have access to my granddaughter's new PC and I am pretty sure I can download music from the PC to the Nano without losing what's on the Nano. I am not PC literate, using Macs since they first hit the market in the 1980's.

Is there anyway I can download Windows software to my Mac so I can add music from my Mac iTunes library to the Nano?

At this point, I think my best bet is to load my Mac's iTunes songs onto my portable hard drive, then load from HD to PC, then load from PC to Nano using Windows format.

    Any thoughts?
