"Warez" was actually the name of a P2P application. That may have been what he was looking for.

Once upon a time, there was 2 different P2P applications that were essentially identical, created by the same developer, and both connected to the exact same P2P network, except one of them was ad supported and the other wasn't.

Ares Galaxy was the ad-free version, and Warez was the version that contained ads.

When the RIAA sent the developer, Alberto, a cease & desist letter back in 2005, his response was to take down the Warez site, stop development on it, make the software unavailable, and to make Ares Galaxy open source.

So if you want an older version of Warez, my suggestion is to just get an older version of the now open source Ares Galaxy that matches the same version of the particular Warez you are looking for. There should be no difference in them except that you will not get any adware like you would have had with Warez.

But...older versions of both Ares Galaxy and Warez no longer work as they can't connect to the current Ares network.

So, unless you can and are willing to download and run the latest version of Ares Galaxy, you are pretty much out of luck.
