Default Driver needed for A.C. 3d browser mouse

    Hey guys,
I need the driver for A.C. 3D Browser Mouse (manufactured by Chic Technology Corp.) for Windows 98/98SE.

    My problems:
    1. Not sure about manufacturer as its name is not written on the device. Got to know it from searching in Google.
    2. Windows 98 does not recognise it, not PnP (?).
    3. The installation software came with it in CD does not help. Installing that programme did not solve the problem.
The mouse is attached to 9 pin serial port. Do I need to configure it? How? I don't know, need help.

this device not being plugnplay is not as bad as it sound sit jsut bmean s it was not included inthe driver database whithin the original CAB file, to fix this and force winblows to understand it do this
go into control panel and click on addd new hardware, then insett the cd that came with it and browse for the inf file withinthe CD to use ase the info file to start windows seeingthe device
you will need to reboot to make windows see it and it shoudlremember it unless you have a major power bump it might fall off again

Unhappy Not as simple as that!

slavezero, the links lead to two sharewares namely 'driver detective and 'driver agent', respectively which after installation, scan the system; found some outdated or wrong driver installed for some devices and then asks for a hefty bucks to get registered and find appropriate drivers for those devices.
It also make it mandatory for the system to be connected with internet, not possible for an off-line PC.

try to go to DriverGuide.com (printer drivers, cdrom drivers, modem drivers, sound drivers, mouse drivers, monitor drivers, etc.) ,sign up for an account I think you can find your mouse driver there.

you can also try this from techrepublic F8E845.exe 2003-09-25 (Windows), from Belkin - Software Downloads - TechRepublic this also require registration.

'roipatrick', I have tried the link you provided (Other Companies Driver Download), but it doesnot seem to have the driver I needed.
'slavezero', I am already a registered user of Driverguide.com and just searched their site for the driver. Found two drivers looking similar to what I needed.
    Manufactured by: Chik Technologies
Model name: 3D Browser mouse (serial)
OS needed: Win95, Win98 (claimed by uploader).
Let me try them and see whats happened.
    see you soon.....

Default Eureka!!! The problem is solved.

Not sure which of the two drivers I downloaded from driverguide.com does the magic. One was for "standard serial mouse" and the other was for "Microsoft Intellipoint 2.0". I installed both of them and the mouse started working. Later I uninstalled "MS Intellipoint 2.0" and "AC 3D browser mouse" which was installed from the software disk came with the device. STILL THE MOUSE IS WORKING NICELY. It is now shown in device manager as "Microsoft Serial Mouse with Wheel."

P.S. I attached the mouse in a different serial port before installing those drivers. Perhaps it solved the problem for ever.

End of this post started by me. But do not worry, I will come with a new problem very soon.
