for all of the versions of musicmatch on this website, after i download the start up thing and then run it, nothing happens. is it possible that musicmatch just doesn't work with vista? thanks.
I actually had this issue when I was installing it for a friend. But I did the backward compatibility and it worked just fine.
I tired with Vista which gave me a message that MM10 would not install.
So, please do tell, how do you the backward compatibility thing?
Thanks,

Hey mitrich,
Welcome to forums.
Musicmatch does work on vista.
Good luck
- Download musicmatch from oldapps
- Right click on the installed file and select Properties
- Select Compatibility
- and make it run on Windows XP
P.S. It should look something like this
Hi, thanks for the welcome and the advice.
I did what you said, and MM10 did install; but it would not run. The error message said that some component of MM10 was creating the problem.
So, unless you have more advice, I guess it's no-go.
But, I am not out of luck completely. I did get it to install in one of my XP machines, and I got what I wanted, which was a utility to export my Music Library to an Excel file.
I have taken it as a personal project to get Yahoo to find a buyer for the complete MM10 code, which some smart cookie should have squirreled away. I mean, you know, after they bought the company that produced MusicMatch, they emasculated the software and used the remnant as the front end of their failed music store. They should have no more use for the code. The model I proposed to them was the model which had AOL dispose of Netscape in a positive fashion which gave us MozillaSuite, Firefox, TBird, and SeaMonkeySuite.
Yahoo is dead from the neck up. I was a stockholder, glad for the Microsoft offer which added ten points to the share price and let me get out with a triple.
Thanks again. If you have any further ideas, I am keeping the .exe file.

I've tried it in the past and it didnt work. I wasn't too upset about it since I wasn't too big of a fan of Music Match to begin with.
When it's time to go, you better go 100%
