Default iTunes 7 stopped letting me add music (XP)

My iTunes has stopped letting me add mp3s to my library. I have mp3s stored in "My Music" folder and suddenly the program just stopped letting me add it. I usually use CTRL+O (Add File to Library) option, but I've since tried everything from the Add Folder to Library option to dragging the folder or song into the library manually. Nothing works. I even uninstalled it and reinstalled it - same problem. Is it an iTunes 7 thing? Because I've had iTunes 7 for a while and this only started happening a few days ago.

Also, nothing even shows up when I attempt this. No signal that anything was even tried. Just nothing.

Sometimes a box will come up saying the songs are being "processed" but they are never actually added.

The tracks aren't simply improperly labelled either - I've tried looking in the "Recently Added" and nothing ever shows up.

See if My Documents\My Music\iTunes iTunes Music Library.xml has write permission.

Hmm... well after you posted I went to the iTunes folder in My Music and then clicked "share folder" on the side, unchecked "Read Only" and applied it to all folders. Should that have worked? If it does, every time I go back "Read Only" is checked again.

Edit: But yes, the .xml and the .itl files in the iTunes folder are both unchecked for "Read Only."
