The full paid version of DVDFab is also very good. It's free to try. They give you access to the full version for 30 days before payment is required.
Always try before you buy. The current version does support Windows 98 and higher.

For Windows 2000 and higher, there is a free program called Handbreak.
Versions are also available for Mac and Linux users.

For those of you who are feeling really geeky, the ability to copy a commercial DVD is built into most distributions of Linux.
All you need to do is install the libdvdcss2 file, which is available in your distribution's repositories, and any Linux CD/DVD burning software that supports disk copy, like K3b. And of course a blank disk the same size as the disk you are copying (usually a dual-layer disk is required).
The software extracts the data from the master disk in the form of a single ISO image and then burns that image to the blank disk, giving you an exact copy of the original disk. All of this is accomplished with only a few clicks of the mouse.
You can choose to save the ISO image or hold it temporarily and have it automatically deleted. Very simple, very easy.

Oh that's pretty cool. I didn't know about that. Will try it out.
