Unhappy itunes v.6.0.5 on ipod video. HELP!

So apparently, after I updated my iTunes for a newer version, I restored my iPod so I can fix some of the "broken" songs on my ipod which aren't playing. Afterwards, I tried to sync my iPod with my iTunes. That's where the first problem occured. I got the Error 1418. I fixed it by going back to an old version of iTunes (v.6.0.5.), after that, I got that old version to work, since I practically read this forum for 3 hours, and figured it out. Now, the v6.0.5. iTunes does not work on my updated iPod. It says in order for me to update my iPod ( or sync it ), I need to have v7.0 or later of iTunes.

How can I get my iPod in sync with my iTunes.

    Or,

How can i get my iTunes to read my iPod.

Someone please help!! I'm going to die without my iPod to keep me company!

    Hey Cookies,

What happens when you install itunes 7 and connect your ipod? It should recognize it. I found the following solution from apple.com. See if any of it helps.

    Symptom

When restoring or updating an iPod in iTunes 7 or later, you may see a dialog reporting "An unknown error has occurred" followed by the error number 1415, 1417, 1418, or 1428.
    Products Affected
    • iTunes 7 or later
    • Any iPod model
    Solution
    1. Update iTunes to the latest version and attempt to restore your iPod.
    2. Try connecting your iPod to a different USB port and restore.
    3. Remove any third-party USB devices you have connected to your computer (it is not necessary to remove your keyboard or mouse).
    4. If you use Windows, re-register .dll files as described in article #304996.
    5. For Windows users, update or reinstall your Windows USB drivers.
Note: If you have an iPod shuffle you may need to use the iPod Reset Utility to restore the iPod. If you are not sure which iPod you have, see Apple Support document 61688: Identifying different iPod models.
