Default Trouble with Installing Skype on Mac OS 10.3.9

I am running an old version of skype (1.5.0.80) on a 800 mhz G4 ibook with 640 MB, 40 GB HD and OSX 10.3.9, and it works ok. But I have tryed to update skype to use a web cam and I was't able to run 2.5.0.85 version (I installed it and when I click on the icon it flashes but doesn't open). I saw that 800 mhz are required to run that version and also OSX 10.3.9: but it still doesn't work. I bought my first mac to be able to talk and see my family and I can't. Does anyone have a solution using skype or any other program if not? (I downloaded msn messenger for mac but it doesn't have a video call option as it has for pc). Thanks.

I suggest you to update your mac to the latest system or may be just update it to the 10.4. Also one more thing you can try is to update your system and try to install the software again.
