Installing an Old App

Ok I don't know if it's just me but my computer is being dumb. It won't allow me to download the latest version of iTunes on to my computer. Apparently a lot of people have been having this kind of trouble so I decided to install an old application of it. (I just recently rebooted my computer so the version of iTunes I have is so old the notes are still green). Anyway I tried to download an old app - I hit the run button and waited for it to download. The only problem is that when it finishes, the download box disappears and nothing happens. Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

Oh and I'm operating on Windows XP.

I've tried downloading all the itunes ones and none of them are working
