can't uninstall quicktime

HI,
I'm trying to upgrade Itunes but when I try to install it. Message is old version of quicktime can't uninstall. Won't do it in Control Panel either.

Hey tomfnc,

Welcome to the forums. Here are some steps that will help you removing older quicktime player.

Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. then use it to clear any existing QuickTime installation configuration information from your PC:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 (Windows Installer CleanUp Utility - Download link is towards the bottom of the page.)

Thereafer, manually remove remaining program files and folders.

1. Open My Computer

2. In My Computer, open Local Disk. (This should be Drive C in most cases)

3. Open Program Files.

4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.

5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.

6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx.

7. Restart your computer

Go to http://www.oldapps.com/quicktime_player.htm and download a standalone installer for Quicktime and install it. And then try to install iTunes.

I have two old versions of quicktime on my XP; version 2.1.2 and 6.5. I have uninstalled 6.5 but it doesn' go away!! Both version show in the Contro Panel. Neithr show up when I run the Cleanup Facility I downloaded on your advice. What now??

After rerunning the windows remove/change on quicktime, I seem to have gotten reid of Version 6.5. Still have the old QT for Windown 2.1.2

have u tryed going into c drive click on proghrames to see if it is there normaley can be deleted from there if when installed u have sent it it is usaley in cdrive
