    Default Parsons Address Book

    Hi.

Should start by saying I have the Address Book 3.0 on an old laptop running WIN98. Machine getting very wonky.

I have a backup floppy (file = ABWINBCK.OO1). I have one installation disk, don't remember if that is the whole program, but when I try it on the new desktop, click on install.exe, nothing really happens. 3.0 possibly won't load onto XP Home?

So I'm looking for a way to salvage my address book.

Following several ideas. One would be to get a copy of 3.0 (if mine is not whole) and install it on another old laptop w/WIN98, or in a C drive partition w/WIN98.
Anybody have more info or disks on 3.0?

Anybody know another address book that will import the above file?

Parsons Address Book is gone into CyberHeaven, but 7.0 is still for sale, eBay or whatever, and someone says it is part of Broderbund Printshop 22, still for sale.
Are there intermediate versions that will load on XP?
    book manually.....

    Thanks,

OK, heck, I'll reply to myself......anybody still on this thread?
I bought Printshop 22, but it would not import my addresses, though it says it will. "Not a Valid Backup File," or somesuch. I e-mailed Broderbund, who did not reply, and e-mailed GoDaddy, where Bill Parsons is now, and got told they did not support the address book. Thank you very much.

So----anybody have a copy of any version of Parsons address book, for openers?

    Thanx,
    Denno

OK...I too had same problem. Had installation disc (only one is needed). When I put it in the floppy drive it would do nothing when I tried to install it. I am also running XP.

What worked for me is this:

    Made a file in c:
copied contents of installation diskette onto c drive
installed from c drive. It worked like a charm from there!

Please let me know if this helped or not.
