Default Quick Time failed to initialize

This comes up when I want to open a picture file. I have a PC running Win98 and I really don't give a rat's ass if i have quick Time-but I am sick of the message and i want it to stop popping up. I tried to get a repair or upgrade or something and my ancient OS isn't supported or something. If you can help me e-mail me at bear@math.com

    Download and install irfanview.

Does this message come up only when you try to open a picture?

Pretty much but I can usually open it anyway if I dance the gatesian boogie enuf. What is it with this crap anyway-when the software knows you have been"illegal" and instead of ignoring it//fixing it it shuts you down. Another thing why in the hell does it take 10 minutes to start the OS and why can't I turn these underlying programs off for defragging?
Sorry about the tirade- I grew up with a father who is like so many electronics, stereo, computer geeks-who get mad at you when you don't know the answer to a question already!! I can explain to a moron anything I understand, why can't the geeks?
