Default No sound from Media player 10 or 11beta

I'm not to sure what happened. One day WMP was working fine, the next day the sound stopped playing. I tried updating Direct X, updating to WMP 11 beta but no luck.
Itunes works fine and I tested my sound system with other devices and it's working fine. So why doesn't WMP play any sound. Oh, and Yes the volume is turned on

I'm running Windows XP Pro SP2

I'm not sure what the problem can be so you can try uninstalling it completely and then reinstalling it.

Go to Control Panel => Add or Remove Programs => select Add/Remove Windows Component => Down the list unselect Windows Media Player and select next .

It should remove the media player now.

After the uninstall restart your computer. Then go to this page http://oldapps.com/windows_media_player.htm and download either version 9 or 10 and then install it.

Please let us know if you need more help.

Okay, I tried that before but I tried it again just in case it would work this time. Nope, didn't help.
Real Player and ITunes work great. WMP 9 doesn't and I just checked my RealTek player and that one doesn't work either.

    HOLD ON!!!!
I found the problem. I had a bad codec that was messing things up. All is working again!!

    Thanks for your help

Just remember that not all audio files can be played using WMP. Some audio files needed some sort of codec for them to run.

Yes it supports iTunes, I'm not sure about VLC. but I never really encounter any problem regarding compatibility on VLC
