Do you have a stuffit expander installed on that 8.6 machine? You will need that to open thjose files otherwise it will show up as a textfile.
Use Power Pc, G3, Mac OS 8,6.
I want to load new internetbrowsers, iCab or Mozilla or Wamcom. All of them came down as textfiles.
What can I do??
If I load them down with new computer Mac OS 10,4 they came down normally, but if I copy them and transfer them with USB-stick to old computer, they also are only there as a textfile.
Have somebody advice how I can make it work?
Thanks

First, it means your computer will return to zero.
Second, it will delete all errors and will return your computer to its normal state of running and yes all programs will be deleted so you will be advised to back up all files that you think is important and for the old computer part i thought it was a new one but if it is old, kindly disregard reformat issues, reformating old PC will take a lot of risk, either successfully or it will totally destroy your computer.
I apologize if i gave an inappropriate advise about formatting and thank you for trusting in this forum regarding computer problems.

Hello Roipatrick
Thanks a lot - The „old” Computer is a Power PC, Workgroup Server 8550/132, I guess, but I´m not sure its a G3???, he runs still OS 8,6. I guess that he is now around 9-10 years old - is this to old? Does this belong to your above mentioned warning?
