I cant open msn messenger 8.5.1235

Hello friends. I am a danish guy who loves older applications of msn messenger and dont like the new ones.

I have downloaded for example msn messenger 8.5.1235 and also another one called 8.0 etc. I can install it etc but when I sign in, the systems tells me, that I have to upgrade to the newest version of msn to be able to continue. This is really irritating of course, the main purpose of downloading is of course to USE that old version and NOT to upgrade to those stupid new versions that microsoft are sooo "great".
Any one here can tell me how I can sign in to for example msn 8.5.1235 or other msn versions of type 8.0 etc without being asked to upgrade?
If we cant use the old msn versions why in heavens name are those old versions here to download, if we cant USE them???
I am very curious, what is the solution to this problem, and I am waiting for any good idea of how we can avoid this problem of being asked to upgrade.

After you download MSN Messenger go to MessPatch Light: quick.basic.universal and run the patch. MSN should work fine after that.

You can't install and run msn messenger without the net having to tell you that you should upgrade. Follow help_desks advice because he can really help you out regarding this matter.

After you download MSN Messenger go to MessPatch Light: quick.basic.universal and run the patch. MSN should work fine after that.

Hello and thanks for reply. I have now downloaded msn messenger 8.0.0.792 and also to patch it at messpatch, but it does NOT WORK at all yet. I just chose one of the profiles proposed there in messpatch, and I DID choose the correct patch version (800792). The messener STILL asks me to update to a newer version. I dont know why, and I would like to get a comment from you. Thank you very much in advance.

The system still requires me to update the messenger to the newest one. I had chosen just one of those 3-4 options(3-4 different names mentioned) that are mentioned in the downloading menue, and there was no errorindication during the process. After finishing I tried to start messenger, and as I said, I was required to update the messenger. I dont know where possibly I have made an error by choosing a wrong downloading option or what has happened. But I did NOT choose a wrong module(8.0.0.792). After finishing the downloading process the messenger started automatically, but is it so, that it must be started in a special way??
Well I expect a new help please, as I cant see, where I have made errors so easily. Thanks in advance.

Yes, i have seen and noticed that you are irritated. As we have mentioned in this section there is someone who can share a solution to your problem or no one can share.
But we are here to help you.
Is your windows security or mac security set to automaatic updates.....if so turn it off and install msn in this way windows will block all updates of programs currently installed in your computer set.

If this doesn't help kindly update this post.

Hello and thanks a lot for your answer. I have now tried to deactivate automatic windows updating, and after that once again installted the messenger, but this did NOT help either.
Referring again to this patching of the messenger, there is a cuestion of which profile I want to use, for example Rolandos profile, other profiles or my own customized profile. Which one must I choose to solve the problem? Personally I dont think it has to do wit that, but nevertheless I just ask hehe
Its because I have tried to scrutinise all the profile options mentioned in the box, where I must check or uncheck the options I want or dont want right?
Within those options there is NO OPTION at all letting you block for secarhing of newer versions of MSN. So now I ask myself and you HOW CAN THIS PATCHING HELP AT ALL? if there is no such option to block for search and installing of newer versions?
Another question is, that within the big bundle of files of msn messenger MAYBE or PROBABLT there is a file called update or whatever, that always will force you to update the messenger right? But where is the file located precisely(to delete it) and what is the correct name of that file?
Maybe the whole problem is that in the microsoft messenger server there is a block for comunication with older messengers so no matter what settings we put in our computer this will never solve the problem?
What do you think? Well what I understood from your first answer it SHOULD work with patching but HOW when there is no option allowing me to block for search and updating to newer messenger version?
I would love to hear any suggestion from you, and if you really think this patching should work PLEASE check first if YOU can make it work and THEN tell me step by step what you do right? I have been trying to make messenger 80.0.792 work so thats the one we should try to test now right?

Try following these procedures

Download resource hacker - hacker is a free tool that can help you modify, rename, add, delete and extract resources in 32bit Windows executables and resource file.

1. Run ResHacker.exe
2. Open msnmgr.exe it is normally located on C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Messenger
3. Expand "Version Info" then expand the 1 folder
4. Click on the 1033 gear icon
5. Scroll down and look for the following values

VALUE "FileVersion", "12.3.4567"
VALUE "ProductVersion", "12.3.4567"

Those are MSN's file version number replace them with the current MSN number. The newest version as of this post is: 14.0.8064

This will trick the system that you already have the latest version so it will not bug you anymore
