Itunes has a problem seeing my iPhone 3G S. I'm running 8.0.2 iTunes, I can't seem to figure out the 8.2 install for 64 bit

I am having the exactly same problem as mcardo99. When I upgraded to 3.0, the camera went into recovery mode. When I connect it, iTunes insists that I must "Restore" the phone before connecting it to iTunes.

When I click on restore, it churns for a moment then I hear the USB device disconnect chime from Windows, and immediately afterwards I get the USB device connect chime. At this point I get the "Found New Hardware Wizard". It offers to have Windows go out looking for the driver, but it is unsuccessful.

Does anyone know where I can get a driver that can speak to an iPhone in recovery mode?

Now that version 3.0.1 is out you might want to try that. They said that they have fixed some more bugs in the firmware.

Any suggestions, I love everything else about Windows XP x64.
Maybe try removing the service pack condition entirely from my previous post or just having "VersionNT>=501" by itself?

Here's my edited file if you want to give this one a try...
    2shared - download AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi

Sorry, I should have been specific, I had upgraded to 3.0.1 when I had the problems.

After a fair amount of looking around on the web and finding other people with the same problem, but no one with a fix, I ended up going with a workaround that I found:

You can "Restore" the phone to its factory settings on a different computer (one that isn't running 64-bit XP or 2003) and then come back and sync it to your own computer. Apparently when performing an upgrade it has to perform the process of resetting to factory settings (which it calls "Restore") and 64-bit XP breaks (well, the iPhone driver breaks). If you perform the restore process on another computer, its fine when you come back and sync all your personal settings.

I went to a friend's and did the restore on his 32-bit XP and jumped out when it started asking questions about options for syncing to his computer. Everything seems to be back to normal now.

That's great that you found a workaround for this.

Let's hope this will help people a little more on the forums.

try plugging your iphone in another computer. If a different computer can detect your iphone it means something is wrong in your USB port or the USB port of your computer.

    Try using another USB connector.

    have Windows XP 64bit
    could not intall iTunes.
    Followed suggestions here, and from:
yukichigai - Making the iPhone work in XP x64 - A guide for lovers

Ran into the same " sevice pack 2 " problem. Turned out it was neccessary to also remove the same LaunchConditions values from the AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi installer as well.
    it now works a charm.

Kindly upgrade you itunes to 8.2 or later and turn off your firewall before doing the upgrade. I have done this and it worked. There's a but to this, it worked on me very well but the result may vary depending on the computer. I'm not 100% sure if it will work on youre system too. Better try it first then kindly update his post.
