Default ares won't connect - 08-08-2009
i have been trying to connect to ares for a couple of weeks now i have installed every version and still connecting but won't connect. i have turned off firewall changed ports everything. can someone help me

Simply go to java.com: Java + You and install the Java Runtime Environment before installing Ares.

We help not because we need to but we help because we want to.........there's a big difference between "need" and "want"

tried java but still says connecting but still won't connect

Try this .:: Ares - [Home] Download latest version 2.1.1.3035 ::., most users that has problem connecting to Ares found it useful.

What is your operating system by the way?

i have a dell studio 540 running windows vista. avg is my security. i bought the computer about 3 weeks ago right from dell do you think they may have some way of blocking the connection?

If you are using Vista, then try installing this update The Windows desktop may stop updating correctly after a Windows Vista-based computer has been running for an extended period of time

I think Dell would get in a great deal of trouble if they try to block something like that.

I would suggest to see if your Windows firewall is blocking the connection. Also ISP and your modem can play a part in blocking the connection as well.

From what I've been able to gather, this is not an uncommon problem.

The recommended solution, however, is to not use Ares Galaxy. Instead, try Ares Destiny.
