Thanks Admin,
This definitely helps me to install the skype. Thanks for all those replies by mail.

1.Open Safari or your favorite Web browser, and enter http://www.oldapps.com/Skype_Mac_OS_X.htm in the address bar.
2.Click any old version link on the Web site; then click any link that is appropriate for Mac OS X to begin downloading Skype Downloading this installation file takes a few minutes. The 7MB file Skype_number.dmg (where number is the version number) can take a little while, depending on the speed of your Internet connection. When downloading is complete, the Skype disk image mounts on the Desktop, and a Finder window opens automatically, revealing the Skype application.
3.Drag the Skype application to your Applications folder.
4.Drag the Skype application icon in your Applications folder to your Dock for convenient access to the Skype application.
5.In the Finder window, click the Eject button next to the mounted volume for Skype to eject the mounted volume from your Desktop. Next, you will need to create a new Skype account to register as a Skype user.
6.Assuming that your Mac is still connected to the Internet, click the Skype application icon on your Dock or in the Applications folder to launch Skype and begin setting up your Skype account.

You are welcome!
Hi,
I am new to Mac (old PC user) and I need to get Skype up and running (desparately, actually). I am on an iMac, running Mac OS 10.2.8.
No matter whether I try to launch the newest version of skype, or older versions from your site, the error message I get every time is:
"Skype_1.5.0.80.dmg" failed to mount due to error 95. (no mountable file systems)
I have tried downloading from Explorer and Firefox. Any tips? I really appreciate your help. (Note: the Skype logo never appears on my download window..as all the instructions I have read says it would.)
Thanks so much.
Lorraine
Apple's OS X 10.2.3 update introduced an elusive bug. It is sometimes identified by the message "error 95, no mountable disk systems" when trying to open a disk image with Disk Copy. As a result, disk images for new software cannot be mounted and thus the new software cannot be installed.

Apparently this isn't one problem. Rather, it is several different problems which manifest themselves in a similar manner. As a result, different solutions may or may not work for different users. Even after successfully fixing this problem by applying one of the following possible solutions, the original damaged disk images cannot be repaired. You will have to re-download the software. And even if one or more of the following possible solutions works for you, in some cases (e.g. logging out and then back in) the solution may only be temporary.
What is most frustrating about this problem is that not everyone is experiencing it; some people suddenly start experiencing it without warning; some people are able to fix the problem entirely; while others can't fix the problem at all.
Possible solutions:
Log out and then back in (via Apple menu.)
Apple has added this Knowledge Base article about this problem, with a possible fix for some:
http://www.info.apple.com/kbnum/n106345
Several folks have noted that using the program Mount to mount disk images, instead of Apple's Disk Copy, has resolved the problem for them. (Others say that it hasn't helped them.)
Mount

Others have reported that when the encounter a disk image that won't mount, dropping it on DropDMG:
http://www.c-command.com/dropdmg/
will fix the file so that Disk Copy can then open it
Similarly, Sometimes when .dmg files are downloaded they obtain a TEXT file type, causing your Mac to want to try and open the file with the wrong application. When you drop a bad file on DMG Fixer's window, the file type is corrected and it should then open normally with Disk Copy.

SubRosaSoft ImageMounter may be a helpful work-around for the Error 95 problem. It uses the Hard Disk Image Driver module (built into the OS) to mount a disk image, bypassing the normal error checking (checksumming) in such a way as to allow some older formats to be mounted.

There are a lot more suggestions for dealing with the Error 95 problem here:

"Failed to mount due to error 95 (no mountable file systems)"
This happens if your hard drive name has invalid characters such as *, &, or %, or if you do not have Mac OS X 10.2.8 or later.
If your hard drive name contains invalid characters:
Change the name of the hard drive: Click the hard drive icon and type a new name without any invalid characters.
To check your version of Mac OS X and update it:
1. Click the Apple menu, then About This Mac.
2. If you do not have Mac OS X 10.2.8 or later, click the Software Update button.
3. Make sure that the Mac OS X Update check box is selected. Clear any other boxes if necessary.
4. Update your version of Mac OS X.
If you do not have a Software Update button, please visit one of Apple's support Web sites:

Thank you both for your posts.
On the first round of posted advice, i went through each option. Mount could not help - it suggested that I try to redownload and try again. I tried again, and no luck.
C-Command software only works on macs 10.3 and up.
DMGfixer said it was fixed, but it could not launch
SubRosaSoft has removed their Image Mount software - is there anotehr place to get this?
Finally, the pub4 link is dead.
on the 2nd post: My hard drive is called iMac 15 HD -- so no illegal characters. Software: 10.2.8 - so it has the minimum. The software downloads are all up todate (only the new blue tooth is not downloaded, but I didn't bother) so no luck yet.
I am going to give up for the day, and think about it some more. My mac dealer never had trouble with this before, so has no advice either.
I really appreciate your time with this -- and if I do figure it out, I will let you know what I discovered.
(I am expecting to get a Mac Power Book Pro soon - but its back ordered right now, so am fooling with an older mac loaner until its in.)
Again, thanks for your help - any other ideas are most welcome.
Lorraine
I am also facing the same problem with my iBook OSX Ver10.2.8.
Appreciate if someone can advice.

Which version of skype was the first to incorporate Video? 2.0.0.6 or earlier.....
Thanks
Skype Video calls were introduced back in July 2006. Here is the information I've found from Skype website.
25.07.2006: Skype for Mac version 1.5.0.47 Video PreviewKnown issues
- Feature: video calling
- CPU load is very high when in a video call
- Skype has to be restarted in order to detect a new camera
- Problems when video preferences are opened during a video call
- Delays when enabling video, and when video call is resumed
- Pausing a call in full-screen mode closes the full-screen window
- If video is stopped while in a call with a Windows user, the call has to be restarted for the video to work properly
