Great news you have just shared. Thank you. I will definitely try it out.
I noticed the other day that fine folks at Nero, famous for their CD/DVD burning software, are now giving away a basic edition of version 9 for free.
This is for anyone running Windows XP or higher (including Windows 7).

We help not because we need to but we help because we want to.........there's a big difference between "need" and "want"
I agree with what you say about Nero. they are one of teh best when it comes to cd burning. This is indeed a great news.

I have downloaded and tested the program in Windows 7 RC1 in VirtualBox.
It's very basic. Data only. But it runs well and it does have a disk copy function.
They do ask you to register the program. However, you can just make something up, so you do not have to give them any personal information.

I have also tested it under Vista and XP and as well as windows 7 as what the doctor said. It's so true.

I totally agree. If you want people to use your software, give them a free basic version and you will sell more copies of the paid version. It's great marketing.
Roxio used to give away a fantastic version of Easy CD Creator 5 years ago that worked on Win 98 through XP. In fact, I think I still have it somewhere. But it was a great way to get users to become loyal followers of your brand.
I only wish more companies had this marketing plan. I remember in the old days, MS would give away Works on all new computers. Now they make you pay for it or go to a free version like OpenOffice or AbiWord, depending on your needs.

You're right the doctor... but sad to say, some still do not see the advantage of it.
