Default Different File Size - 10-15-2009

On the download page for Internet Explorer 5.2.3 it states that the file size is 6.8 MB, but when I downloaded it to my computer it stated that it would require 19 MB of space. Why is there such a difference? I ran a virus scan on it twice with no results. Is IE 5.2.3 safe to use?

I prefer using Firefox if i want to download something but IE is also safe but some people said that it is less safer than other browsers. And about the size, 16 mb is the actual size of your file, your computer stated 19 mb to save some space in case of download failure and some bugs of some sort. This space is allocated for back up purposes. It will only state 19mb before and while downloading but after downloading is finished it will revert back to 16mb.

Roi said it all. Regarding safety of IE, I believe it is safe. But whatever browser you will choose to use, be cautious with different files you will download and install.

Just a piece of advice. If you want to be safe when installing a software, be sure to choose Custom Install so you can only install what you need. Toolbars and other stuff may be installed when you choose Full Install. Hope this helps. Thanks
