WORKING SIMPLE FIX (FOR ME ANYWAY)

Posted by Carl on Thu, 03/17/2011 - 09:27.
TRY THIS, IT WORKS FOR ME
I've tried the other methods described on the web.
    - XP Virtual machine method - works but annoying having to flip over all the time to play music.
    - Yahoo Musicmatch method - This method required you to install Yahoo musimatch and then an original musicmatch and it worked well. That was whilst the Yahoo installer insatlled all components. Unfortunately the installer won't install the Ogg and Surething components anymore (although ogg can be found on the web the correct surething can't) so .......

This is a simple shortcut fix which appears to resolve the RECTIFY PX.DLL issue! Alternatively you could create a ".bat" file which could do the same thing.

    1. Install Musicmatch Plus v 10.00.4040.exe (or whichever version you have I guess)
    2. Go to install dir - Make all exe's run In compatibility mode : Win XP (Service Pack 2) and tick run as administrator.
    3. Create Shortcut with following target info:
    - "C:\Program Files (x86)\Musicmatch\Musicmatch Update\MMJB\sonic\Px.dll" "C:\Program Files (x86)\Musicmatch\Musicmatch Jukebox\mmjb.exe"

The link between the files appears to remedy the px.dll issue. You will need to open player each time, via the new shortcut which is no big deal (before opening mp3; otherwise you'll get same px.dll error until you do).

    4. Amend UAC settings to "never notify" (As MM is not certified by for use in Win 7; it will block it)
    - although not recommended in Win 7, as long as you have a good antivirus and firewall you'll be okay.

all done! Let me know if this works for you as well.
I have posted in a few places IOT get the message out.

Here's a code to upgrade MM is you don't have one:

Hi Carl, I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. I can run earlier versions of Musicmatch (version 8) but have this px.dll problem as well for version 10. Can you explain a little more clearly your fix, as I can't get it to work? What do you mean by install dir ? I right click on the installer and run in administrator mode, is that what you mean? I tried creating a shortcut and copying and pasting the target string you posted but it doesn't work for me. I also cannot find on older version of the Yahoo jukebox to try that fix.

Thanks. I love MMJB and would like to get version 10 running on my machine.

    Dear Carl,

Thanks so much for taking the time to send this proposed fix. I have been so frustrated trying all different solutions and I'm afraid this one didn't work for me either, though I followed all your directions. Could it be because I have 64-bit Win. 7?

    Thanks!
    David

Hi David, Apologies for taking so long to reply. Looking back at what I wrote, in my excitement, I forgot to mention a couple of things which I did in addition to the above in order to get it working:

    • After installation you need to search for all "exe" files in the install dir (installation directory) and amend the properties for each (right click / properties / Compatability).
    • Amend compatability to run in "Win XP (Service Pack 2)" and as administrator.

I'm not sure if this helps; however, it worked for me and hopefully when you do all the things I mentioned, it will for you too. Before I posted "MY SOLUTION" I was actually successful in installing it on my computer and a friends laptop both running Win 7 64 bit, sp again if it doesn't work, I feel your pain as I probably won't reformat again just in case I can't get it working again.

Actually running music match on Windows 7 based computer doesn't have to do anything with 32 bit and/or 64 bit. You can actually run music match since music match is a 32/64 bit application which can run on either windows7 bit.

    Hi All,

I am runnig Windows 7 64bit and tried this method below but it still did not work. I created a new shortcut like it says but when you try to run it windows then asks what program should be used to open it.... I manually select the mmjb.exe file to run it and it appears to run but then says musicmatch was updated and the pc needs to restart. I restart and repeat the process and it's the same again. I tried with 3 different revisions of version 10. I haven't had a chance to try anything older yet.

Has anyone else got ti to work following the below instructions?

    Cheers,

    Joe

    Hi Guys.

I run Musicmatch 7.50.3103 on windows 7 and it works great. Just ignore the odd error message. The only thing I done first was Defrag and Optimse the hardrive.
