Run it in a compatibly mode.

Purchased a new computer (Intel Quad Core i7) running Windows XP Professional 32 bit. Old computer is running Windows XP Home. I have the old WinFax Pro cd and when I place it in the new computer, the splash screen comes up with the different options and I select install. Nothing happens. I've tried copying the cd to the hard drive and I have the same problem, setup doesn't run.
I place the cd in the old machine and it installs fine.
Run it in a compatibly mode.

Thanks for the response, however, I've tried every compatability setting with no success. This is an old 16 bit program and I notice in Task Manager, that it does pull up the wowexec.exe process. I have other 16 bit progams that run fine.....wierd?
Thanks again
Umm.. Interesting. May be you can try contacting the manufacturer. If they can help in anyways.

Unfortuately, WinFax is no longer supported by Symantec, or anyone for that matter. I tried to install it on another XP sp3 machine and same problem, yet it will install on a XP sp1 machine. So I'm led to believe something in sp2 or sp3 is my problem.
Maybe there's a hotfix to be downloaded to be able to install that into SP3 machine. Can you try to view the event log so you can see what's causing the installation error?
