Default I was thinking about installing a newer version of quicktime

My PC is an older SONY VAIO and I am guessing Quicktime 5 was installed as part of the Sony package...... I'm not sure. The computer is a 2000 or 2002 model

I was thinking about removing the old version and installing a newer version of Quicktime Player, but I have read that the newer versions are more limited in use and functions .........unless you pay for the full version.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

Try to use the program iTunes (any version). It has a free Quicktime installer plus. In this link you can see the old version of iTunes+Quicktime.
Don't worry about the new version, if you download the old version, it safe. While if you have installed the newer version then remove it in your system. Each of it are having Quicktime installations. So check it out and good luck!

    Thank you yboyandrei.
I don't do any music recording or downloads at all, and hardly do any video downloads. I was just looking to download a version of Quicktime player.
I looked at the i-tunes program and it looks as if it contains 95% of things I would never use.

I am on dialup, so I pretty much have to download everything I view ...............and once in a while, I want to save something that I see.
On another computer I had some version of Quicktime, and it seemed to operate better and faster than any other player.
The newest version of Quicktime player is quite large at 31mb. That's probably a one hour download if not more.
I'm looking for an older, smaller version that will still be useful.
I know that some versions of any computer program are often better than their latest version. Anyone have a favorite older version......... tho not as old as my 2001 version.

    Thank you for the reply,
    Lo

Hi Lo Down, Well if your running an old version of Quicktime which is version 5, then the next latest version would be Quicktime version 6.4 around 2003 which was the release year. And also the much older version, older than version 5 is Quicktime 4.12 it was launch around 1999. So which would you prefer they are both below 12Mb in file size. It's much easier to download especially if you are using a dial-up connection, and it's all available for download here at oldapps. Click on the link. Download Quicktime
