Default how to open old iphoto on new computer?

I have thousands of photos on my old version of iphoto that I used with my Mac G4 "lamp" style desktop computer that ran OSX 10.3.9 Now I have a new ibook that runs OSX 10.5.6. When I try to open my old version of iphoto, I get a message that that version of iphoto can't be opened with my current operating system. So how do I get at the photos? To compound the problem, something happened with the old computer's relationship to iphoto in that iphoto became sluggish and the option to export photos stopped working; it just wasn't highlighted anymore in the pull down menu. So all my photos from that version of iphoto are locked up and I can't get to them. Help!

Hi try to run Mac disk repair or disk utility, then uninstall the iphoto software, make sure your restart it after the uninstalling and then install it again using your disc installer.
