Default All Add-ons "Disabled" in Firefox.

    Hi,

I just "down-graded" to Firefox v 3.5.9 from the current 3.6.3 version so I could continue using one add-on in particular, that wasn't compatible with the newest versions of the "Fox".

But after downloading both the old version of the browser, installing it and then the add-on in question..I found that all the add-ons I had installed..as well as the add-on I have just downloaded..have all been disabled and each shows the same message..

"Disabled for your protection. Known to cause security or stability issues."

I have tried uninstalling the add-ons and re-installing them again, but I'm still getting the same message..even though the add-ons are supposed to be compatable with older versions of the browser..I mean, it's not like I am trying to install new versions of the add-ons into an old browser..but the same old versions that should work with an old version of Firefox!

It's as if something is blocking me from using any add-ons with this old version..forcing me to upgrade to the new current version. Well, that's how it appears at any rate. If anyone reading this can tell me how to sort this issue out or what steps I should take in order to get around this, then I will be very grateful indeed.

By the way, I have already been into the "options" panel and had no luck there at all, as there doesn't seem to be anything there that will let me turn on or off this add-ons "disabled" feature..and I have been through each options tab.

    Here's hoping..

Don't know if this will work with 3.5.9 but I know it works with 3.5.8 (what I'm running):

open the add on you want to use in 7zip and extract the install.rdf file. Then open the install.rdf file with note pad and under the <em:targetApplication> section change the em:maxVersion value to 3.6, save the file and then add the changed file back to the add on with 7zip. Like I said, it may or may not work with version 3.5.9 but I know it does work with version 3.5.8 which is what I'm running.

Welcome to the forums. For those of you who want to downgrade to older version of Firefox and still want to keep your extensions working you may use one of the following tools:

    1) Oxymoronical Nightly Tester Tools

    2) What you can do is open the configuration (about:config) in your Firefox browser, right click the list and create a boolean extensions.checkCompatibility option there. Set its value to false and restart the browser.

    3) Force Firefox Extension Compatibility
