    Default old firefox extenstion question

How do I make old firefox extention working with my current version of Firefox?

I have some extenstion that would not work with the new version of Firefox. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Amin

    Hey Firefoxfan,

This is how to change firefox version:

Go to firefox addressbar and type about:config

    In the filter type: app.extensions.version

If it does not exist, make a new string. Double-click on it and in the pop-up box enter 1.5 (or the previous version of your choice--if you're creating a new value the box will pop up automatically). Restart Firefox and when it's started go to Tools > Extensions. Find the "incompatible" extensions in the list (they'll be greyed out), right-click on them, and click Enable. Restart Firefox and you're done.

One thing that might help is by posting a messege to that extension page on Firefox addons.
You should tell them to make that extention competible with the latest firefox version.

I agree. Firefox developers are much faster overall to make their extensions compatible with the latest versions.

    Go this lovely browser.

New firefox rejecting your old addons? no problem here is three way of making it work

    • First one by changing firefox configuration you can get more information here

how to Make old addons work with mozilla firefox

    • Second method to use nightly tester tool addon which forces to install incompatible extension in your firefox you can download it here

    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6543

    • and third method is old add-on can be made to work by 'unzipping' the add-on and editing the 'install.rdf file inside it with a text editor.
Change the <em:maxVersion>3.1.0.*</em:maxVersion> to 3.6 or higher.

and again zip it and install as usual

be careful about playing with the firefox addons that do not work in newer versions os the program it just means that the developer of the program has not gotten the new code other newer edition and has not upgraded his program most of the addons that are out there are open source and can take some time to update their software to work with newer versions
also playing around inside the about config file can cause it to crash and NONE of your addons will work without first uninstalling firefox and starting from scratch
this is where us Beta testers come in we try all the new stuff before you guys see it and this is where we have to deal with crashes

Just have a backup or some sort of things like that before proceeding and you don't have to worry anything about your system crashing.
