Can't download older version of itunes to ipod.

I have been having problems with my ipod. It seems like the trouble began with the newest version of itunes? At this site, I have tried to load the previous version of itunes after unistalling the current version but it appears that the new version keeps getting installed instead of the older version that I am requesting? What am I doing wrong? I use Windows XP Pro.

I should have mentioned that I have a second generation Ipod shuffle.

It appears that I was installing an older program but was unaware of that fact because I was not looking at the program numbers closely enough. I was still having problems though. I would get a message that read "the file itunes library .itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of itunes". I had no success trying to load 9.1.1 or 9.0.3. I did have success when I went for the program between those two which was number 9.1. I'm no computer genius but it appears that I am back in business as my ipod and itunes are working well. I hope this info helps someone else. Good luck.

What you need to do is move your iTunes Library.itl file from your My Music > iTunes folder to your desktop and then reinstall the older version again.
