Thread: Install problems with Musicmatch Jukebox 8.2

    Angry Install problems with Musicmatch Jukebox 8.2

    I used Musicmatch Jukebox Plus for several years but my computer crashed so I can't remember for sure if it was 8.1 or 8.2
    I have tried downloading and installing both but I get an installation error and the Installshield Wizard hangs. The error is as follows:

    An installation support file C: DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\{45EBDA59-D33B-956E-B2F236468856}\_Isuser.dll could not be installed. Access is denied.

    I have tried following the path above but after Owner I can't find a folder named LOCALS~1.
    I tried using Windows Explorer to create a path like the one above but I get a message indicating the LOCALS~1 already exists. However when I search for a file with that name it doesn't find one.

    I disabled my virus software but it didn't help. ANY IDEAS?????
    I have my original Jukebox plus key, if I ever get the problem above solved will I be able to use the key to upgrade to Jukebox plus?

    Which operating system are you installing this on? Also which service pack are you running?

    I am running XP, Version5.12600, Service Pack 3, Build 2600

    I think that service pack 3 might have caused all the problems for you. I know that MusicMatch works perfectly in Windows XP with SP2.

    I had been running OK with SP3 before I crashed. However running with SP3 and downloading with SP3 might be two different things.

    May be what you can try is uninstall Service Pack 3 and then install MusicMatch and then upgrade back to SP3. But I'm not sure if it would work 100% or not. It's just my opinion.

    First you are unable to find the folder because your system is setup to hide system folders.

    To solve this part go to your "Explore" window... (Right click START MENU, them left click "explore".)
    In the Explore Window, left click on "TOOLS" then left click "FOLDER OPTIONS".
    Left click on the "VIEW" Tab. Look down through the list about 9 lines down and you will see "HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS" under this heading left click the circle that says "Show Hidden Files and Folders". then go down 2 more lines and uncheck the box next to "Hide Protected operating System Files". then in the bottom of that window left click "Apply" and then "OK" to close the window.

    Now you will be able to follow the path and find all the folders and files (If they are there).

    I have had problems with this on my fathers computer also.

    I can tell you why you're getting this error "C: DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\{45EBDA59-D33B-956E-B2F236468856}\_Isuser.dll could not be installed. Access is denied." Once you fix this one you will get 2 more with different file names.

    They come up because you already installed it once and you are tring to install it again over the first one. Yes, if you go to "Program Files" you will find a folder Labeled "Music Match" and under that will be another MusicMatch folder. If you look in that folder you will see the entire program there. Anyways, you will need to uninstall the musicmatch and then you will also have to go into the Program Files folder and find the MusicMatch folder and delete it and everything in it. Once this is done you will be able to reinstall with out the above errors happening.

    From this point I'm not much help for this is where mine stalls out as you can read below.

    When you start the install program it Extracts all the files first then it continues to setup the "Install" NOTE: I said "SETUP the install not installing the program. Once everything is setup, files in place and what all, the system should continue and complete the install such as all the registry information. But that's where mine hangs up and doesn't complete. The program is there, the system just doesn't know it, and that is where I am stuck. Good luck to ya and wish me luck.

    DON'T FORGET TO GO BACK INTO "EXPLORE" AND SET THE SYSTEM FILES BACK TO HIDDEN. ( UNDO WHAT YOU DID IN THE BEGINNING)

    Hope this helps you some. If you get it fixed let me know it might help me on my end.

    The Local Settings folder is hidden. Right click on start Menu then left click on Explore.
    Click on TOOLs and then click on Folder Options. Next,
    Click the View Tab. go down about 9 lines and left click the circle next to "Show hidden files and folders" then go down 2 more lines and uncheck the box next to "Hide protected operating system files" Now go up near the top of that window and click on the big box that says "Apply to All Folders" then at bottom of window click "apply" and then "OK".
    Now while you are still in EXPLORE navigate to the folder you are looking for (C: Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temp\{45EBDA59-D33B-956E-B2F236468856}) while on the Temp folder, delete this folder ( {45EBDA59-D33B-956E-B2F236468856} ).
    You should be able to try and reinstall the program now. Each time you install it you will have to do the above to install it again.
    I had this same problem and got past this point but the install locks up at 78% and won't go any further.Also unable to run any other apps untill you stop the install by way of Task Manager and ending the task. Once you've stopped the task everything you clicked on while it was hug up all starts to happen at the same time. Good Luck hope this helps. Make post if yoou get it fixed , it may help me.
