Will Adobe Acrobat 8.0 Standard work with Adobe Reader 8.2.4

Hi,

I just downloaded from your website Adobe Reader 8.0, and want to say thank you, I updated all the patches from Adobe that were needed.

I removed Adobe Reader 9.0, I had issues with it and it wouldn't work with Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Standard. I know the Adobe Acrobat 6.0 is a old program, but it worked before.

My questions please.

1. Can anyone tell me the reason Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Standard won't work with Adobe 8.2.4? I had been using Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Standard to scan & there were no conflicts the Adobe Reader 8.0.

2. Will Adobe Acrobat 8.0 Standard work with Adobe Reader 8.2.4?

HI! Welcome to the forum.

We can not tell for sure weather Adobe Reader 8.2.4 would work with Acrobat 8.0 or not because we have never tested it with Acrobat versions ourselves.

Also you can always be brave and try it with Reader 8.0 first and if that works you can slowly upgrade to newer versions I guess.

I wasn't sure if Adobe Reader 8 standard and Adobe Acrobat 8 standard could co-exist on the same computer but they can. I bought Adobe Acrobat 8 and installed it on my computer and as it was installing one of the questions that came up was, which adobe do you want to designate as your default? I designated Reader as my default and Acrobat is only used to scan, and as long as the patches are updated there are no issues.

Hi Blondie as of the moment Adobe does not recommend any versions of acrobat it's because it may cause conflict problems specifically in the shared resources area. But if you are using Acrobat 8 you may update your version to 8.2.4
