trouble to open Openoffice dmg

Hi there!
I am trying to install Open Office, so I downloaded several versions (en-US version) from old apps which should be suitable for my system (MAC OSX 10.5, PPC G5). Open Office 2.0 should run on my computer, so I tried that and also 2.1, 2.2, ...
Now, I can't open those dmgs! I get a message saying the file isn't recognized.
Has anybody got an idea what the problem could be? Do I need a special programm to open the dmgs? Could it be a problem that it's a US version and my computer is European???

Good day to you Mirja, I have here some troubleshooting steps that might help.
1. Make sure you quit any open application or programs. (application/utilities)
2. Then select MacintoshHD in the panel on the leftside.
3. click on FirstAid tab > click repair disk permissions.
4. when your done at the menu bar, quit disk utility and restart your mac computer.
If your seeing these long messages at the permission window don't bother that's normal.
you can ignore that one, as long as you've seen the message Permission repair complete.
5. Quit everything then restart again.
