Update ATI driver from Mobility Radeon X300 ver4

Good morning:
I downloaded ATI Catalyst Driver 9.1 for XP. Initially released in Jan09 it seemed a safe first step to upgrade the video driver on my laptop.

ATI setup initially required that MS .Net Framework version 2.0 be installed. So I downloaded and installed 2.0 (I think I did ... perhaps it needs a reboot to complete it ... but no prompt seen).

Next I tried to reinstall ATI Catalyst Driver 9.1 and got this pop-up box:
SEVERE
'Setup did not find a driver compatible with your current hardware or operating system. Setup will exit now.'

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 running XP Pro and use Firefox 4.0.1 for browser and IE8 installed but not the default browser.

What driver is the ATI setup looking for?

Should I be installing another version of ATI?

roipatrick thanks for the response comment. I was able to successfully install the ATI Catalyst Install Manager (ver 3.0.829.0) plus AMD APP SDK Runtime (ver 2.4.595.10) which previously I had been unable to achieve.

I just checked my video driver (via Device Manager) and the version has updated from ver 4 to ver 8.162.0. I think this is the most current driver I can use for this video card. Very grateful ! Jaykay
