    Default itunes latest upgrade 7.0.2

Hi there.I upgraded to the latest itunes software recently and found that my Audiohijack recording software would not launch itunes.I have the latest Audiohijack software installed.Having discovered this excellent site I downloaded tho previous itunes software and proceeded to install it but my computer said that I cannot install this software.I am on OSX 10.3.9.I tried dragging the latest itunes icon from my applications folder to the trash but still no joy.Could somebody kindly explain (in simple terms!)what I am doing wrong.Thank you for any assistance you may be able to offer.

Here is how to uninstall itunes from Apple first

Drag the application's icon to the Trash.

Open the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder and look for one or more preference files named "com.apple.iTunes....plist" and drag them to the Trash.

Look in /Library/ folder for an iTunes folder and if you find one drag it to the Trash.

Look in /Home/Library/ folder for an iTunes folder and drag it to the Trash.

Last, in /Home/Library/Preferences/ByHost/ folder look for two files with names com.apple.nnnnnnn.plist and drag them to the Trash.

Open Activity Monitor (Utilities folder) and in the process list look for iTunesHelper. Select it, then click on Quit Process icon. Quit or Force Quit the process.
Now open the Accounts preference pane, click on Login Items tab, look for the iTunesHelper entry and select it, then click the "-" button and remove it from the list.

    Empty the Trash.

This should fully remove iTunes and its associated files/folders.

    Then install old itunes

    Default itunes upgrade

Ok I found the accounts preferences pane and the itunHelper entry under startup items.I deselected the check box and emptied the trash as per your instructions.Restarted computer. It still won't install the older version(s) of itunes but I do get further down the install list.Under 'custom install'I get the message 'a newer version of the package is already installed'Mmmm

I have uninstalled itunes version 6 several times using the same procedure... I guess they have made some binary changes in version 7.

Let me figure out how to uninstall and then I will post some instruction here...

That would be greatly appreciated.Anyway I went back to basics and did a complete reinstall of my Panther software discs.Went to download itunes 7.O. which went smoothly but still my Audiohijack software would not launch. So I tried downloading itunes 6.0.5 off this site and again it would not let me.Back to square one!My Audiohijack recording software was working fine a couple of weeks ago which then must have been itunes 7.O.1.Bizarre!

Since it looks like that no one is able to answer your problem. I recommend you to get help from AudioJack support or furthermore go to apple's forum and post your questions there.

    Default Problem solved

I redownloaded the itunes latest software again and this time my Audiohijack worked! Was there a full moon last night Anyway thank you all for your assistance. What a great site for future reference. The latest software that Apple advise you to download isn't necessarily the most user friendly so no doubt will be visiting this site in months to come!

Hey, I don't know for sure if it will work with iTunes, but there's a handy little application called AppDelete that will delete all those library and preference files for you automatically when you want to get rid of an app. I found it on freemacware.com and it's been really easy; you just keep its icon in your dock and drag an app icon into it to delete the app.
