Default Anti-virus support for Windows 2000 Professional

Hi, Just joined the community and very, very pleased I am to have found it. Sometimes operating Windows 2000 (and happily at that for many years) makes you feel like a kind of leper!!. Friends sort of look you suprised and should you mention it in a shop then you really get those funny looks. And of course the questions begin: 'Why don't you upgrade?' 'I'll help you do it' etc. No-one ever seems to ask 'Wow are you happy with it?' Anyways got a request for info bout Anti-virus software for Windows 2000 Pro. I've been running ZoneAlarm version 7.0.483.000 for years. Just paid the subscription every year and continued to run it. But everytime I'm bout to pay out for the new year I wonder if there's anything else out there I ought to consider. The folk at ZoneAlarm just laugh at me when I tell them I'm operating 7.0.483 and suggest just installing freeware instead. But ZoneAlarm as far as I can make out dosen't have any free Anti-virus that I can install with Windows 2000. Is there any way I can continue to operate 7.0.483.000 as freeware?? Is there any other Anti-virus support for Windows 2000 folk would suggest (such as AVG etc) ?? Any ideas gratefully received. Many thanks to one and all...

    Welcome to the Forums mate!

Kudos on running Windows 2000 for this long. I'm pleased to hear that.

As far as I know ZoneAlarm would not work as freeware. (But I have not tested it so I can't tell for sure.)

Alternately you can try Old Version of Avast Free Antivirus 6.0.1270 Download - OldApps.com which I run on my Windows XP and it works flawlessly.

You can use Avira for Windows 2000 and they have a freeware for home user , I use it personally and I'm happy with it.
