The songs on my iPod can play,
but whenever i try to connect it, the computer fails to detect it.
There was a one time where it responded,
but only to ask me to restore the settings and erasing all the data.

    Someone Please help.!

First of all let the battery run out on the ipod and then plug it in. Use a software called iDump and save all of your music files in a safe location. Then restore your ipod and put all of the music back.

    Good luck.

    Unhappy Re: corrupted ipod help

Alright, so I've had this new iPod classic for a couple weeks now, and it's been fine up until tonight.

I plugged it in and installed an update. Then iTunes wasn't detecting it, so I unplugged it. When I plugged it back in, it told me my iPod was corrupted. I restored it, still didn't work. Restored again, still nothing. Unplugged it, then realized it was frozen, plugged it back in and got the same corrupted message.

I tried holding the center and menu buttons as mentioned. It turned off, I thought I was set, but instead now it's just constantly trying to start up again. I can hear it trying to run, it just goes into the apple logo screen and then blank every couple seconds.

    What should I do?

If its new then you need to send it back to Apple. It looks like the hard drive is dying or may be dead already.

If its old ipod then I suggest gently hit in the back of the ipod few times. I got my third generation ipod to work after hitting in the back very hard on the back.

It is the new ipod. I'm going to return it to the retailer, they replace any product you buy there.

    Thank you

i haven't used my ipod nano in about a week, and this morning when i went to go plug my ipod into my computer, my itunes popped up, and the ipod menu, but it told me that i needed to restore my ipod. So i tried to restore it and it went throught all of the steps, but after it shut off and came back on, nothing was fixed and it told me the same thing. Then it told me that my ipod was corrupted and i would need to restore it to use it in itunes. The screen of my ipod when i turn it on says "use itunes to restore". It won't do anything else, and i have tried to do the menu and center button at the same time, but it just restarts and goes back to the "use itunes to restore" screen.

Could someone please help me restore my ipod?

Corrupt Ipod!! I have a problem with it too. So I bought a new ipod and plugged it into my computer (sony Vaio with Vista) and it says my brand new ipod is corrupt. Tried it on my roommates and it works fine. Does anyone know if its a vista thing, security setting or if my computer is just jacked up. Itunes works fine, don't know what the deal is. tried restoring too and that didnt' work
