    Hi,
I have been reading all your emails about Corrupted Ipods. I stupidly pluged mine into someone elses charger connected to there computer yesterday - The machine or Ipod made a few loud beeps......& I unplugged it quickly as it would not disconnect. I dont have a back up of any of my music as I downloaded it about 4 yrs ago & no longer have the computer, I also uploaded more music a few years ago in Oz, so I really need to download it! So next tried to download it on another computer & it says Ipod corrupt (see attached) I dont want to restore it's settings as I have heard & read from your forum that I could then loose all my music. Please can you help, I am not sure how to get my tunes saved onto a system without loosing them?
    Thanks

Hey victoriacoates! Welcome to the forum.

Try using a software called iDump. You might still be able to download all of the music from ipod back to your computer and then try restoring the ipod.

If that doesnt help, I'd suggest to tap on the back of the ipod or restart the ipod by holding the center button and the top menu button for 5-10 sends and use the idump again.

Let me know if you need more help. Good luck

I know this is an old thread but I thought i would comment on iDump. For anyone that hasn't used it before, I recommend it as a great and more importantly EASY way to save songs from your ipod onto a computer.
When it's time to go, you better go 100%

'Your Ipod needs to be formatted, start Itunes now?' And it recognizes the Ipod but shows no data or music in it. Similarly my explorer also shows no data in it, and double clicking it freezes the comp, eventually popping up to say 'Disk needs to be formatted" I don't really want all the music, I could run after it and get it back from friends.

i want the data that i PASTED on it as a hard disk. It has so many movies, text files etc and I want them all! If Idump could get my data As well as music out. its great! Where on earth do I find Idump? Is it free? I need the link

I also want to know if those variety of disk recovery and backup software will work to remove the data that I have pasted here. If u know any reliable softwares please recommend! Appreciate it! Thanks!

    hey!
I'm trying to help a friend of mine who's ipod old video 30gig, is slowly dieing, and is "corrupted" i have a mac and pc and can't get it to work on either. the ipod says its windows format so when i plug it in, my computer says removable disk "d" but freezes and tells me to reformat the drive. if i use disk managment to change the drive letter that will freeze. iTunes says to restore but i know it will erase all the music. i didnt know if "reset all settings" on the ipod settings menu would erase the music.
i made sure the lock button is off, hit it hard on the back, reset with the menu/play buttons and still it wont let me browse the disc.
this is stuff from an old computer so i wanted to back up the music before i restored it. well actually we're going to through it away if i can get the music off. i thought of trying the new hardware that can copy music from one ipod to another... but can't remember what its called.
does anyone else wanna tell apple to cut the crap and make something that last for the $$$$ we give them!
    thanks for any help!!!

I have an ipod classic and have recently encountered an issue with some of the music that is in iTumes not showing up on the ipod. Can't tell if library is corrupted. It looks like about 1/3 of my music isn't on the ipod. I did a test by accessing the first 10 entries in the Artist data and found that for several artists only half the songs were listed on the ipod. I don't have the 'manual' settings on the Summary page in iTunes checked when my ipod is plugged in.
I found this new problem after my playlists and podcasts were no longer in alpha order (which I prefer). Could not determine the rules for the new ordering - seemed like might be based on how often the podcast had been played. My fix was to 'reset' the ipod. The order is now correct, but songs listed in iTunes is not listed on ipod. I believe it's a library corruption -- anyone else have suggestions? I checked my old library files and couldn't find a recent backup (duh!). I tried looking at the song "get info" data and didn't find anything revealing (I already disabled 'part of compilation' so that songs would showup under artist filing). I am stumped.
    Thanks, talliegirl
