Trying to get back to iTunes version 4.8

sorry that it has been a while.
I've actually been able to install the 5 and downgrade to 4.8.

Could you give me some detailed stepps to recreate the problem??

Ok ive been trying in vain to get itunes 7 installed for about 3 hours now.i must use itunes 7 or above or my ipod wont sync but the problem is this: about half way through the install i get this:

Could not open Key:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\classes\Quicktimep layerlib.quicktimeplayerappclsid. verify that you have sufficent access to that key or conatct your support personnel.

What do i do? ive tried completly uninstalling itunes and quicktime but nothing seems to work. surely there is a simple answer to this?
