sorry OS is XP
Hi, Firstly thank you to the threads about re-installing v6.2.5 from v7 as I have been having loads of problems with v7, as everyone else seems too! V easy to follow and saved loads of time!!
My problem now is that I have a new iPod and when I connect (as now in 6.2.5) a message comes up stating that my iPod will only be recognised if I am running v7+ and advises me to go to www.itunes.com to upgrade, which is the last thing I want to do!
Please can you help me get around this so my new iPod is recognised under 6.2.5.
Thanks!![]()

Probably best thing to do is backup all of your music from ipod to a folder on your desktop.
Use copypo's 30 day trial for this. Make sure you backup everything!
Then take your ipod to some other computer which has itunes 7 installed and select restore ipod to default settings. (This will put it to factory defaults)
Then you should be able to open it up in itunes 6!After that you can put back your music in the backup.
Post more questions as I am also curious in this process as well.

Hi, I went through these steps, and even after reformatting and restoring factory settings I still get the message "IPOD cannot be used because it requires ITunes V. 7.0 or later."
Do you have any more advice? Thanks
The ipod is new, bought in dec. 2006, could it be factory settings require 7.0?
iTunes did come out on Release 12 September 2006 so yea there is a possibility of that. However call Apple on its 1-800 number and see what you come-up with. Also if you don't have time. PM me your First and last name and S/n of the ipod.... I will try calling them and asking them for more details...![]()
Grazie, I'll call this weekend and see what I find out.
