Default I checked other forums how to downgrade iTunes but none of them worked for me....

I want to go back to iTunes 6 because iTunes 7 won't let me put any new videos on my iPod. I called apple about my problem and they said that i should just sync the videos onto my iPod and it would work. I decided to take their advice and by doing that I lost ALL of the videos that were on my iPod. I have a mac powerbook 17' inch screen. I bought it during the summer of 2006. I never had a problem putting videos on my Ipod but as soon as i upgraded to the new iTunes I can't put any of my movies/videos on my iPod. I tried to delete iTunes 7 and downgrade back to iTunes 6 but as soon as it gets to the "install" part and i click install it says "there is nothing to install"
Also when i spoke to the apple representatives they told me that apple doesn't support 3rd party movies and if i wanted them I would have to purchase them from the iTunes store... this upsets me because I bought a video ipod so i can watch videos on my iPod.... If this doesn't work and I can't get back iTunes 6 does anybody know about a program that I can use instead of iTunes? A program that can enable me to put videos on my iPod.
    Thank you

    hey Briliante,

Welcome to the forum..... First of all if you want to uninstall itunes only because you can't put videos in then its a wrong idea because there are several plugins which will help you to put videos on ipod without using itunes. I would suggest you to search for them.

In any case if you want to uninstall it anyways... you should read this thread: http://www.oldapps.com/forum/showpos...5&postcount=34

I am having a similar problem. Itunes updated itself to a version that isn't supported by my operating system and I now I cannot open it to update my ipod. I have uninstalled the new version, but when I try to install old versions I downloaded from this site, it says there is nothing to install. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

    Thanks

I am also finding nothing to install in the download package (iTunes 6.0.5) despite having uninstalled all previous versions following instructions on this site/ apple's uninstall info.

iTunes version - previously 7.?.? but this caused problems of non identification with my G4 clickwheel ipod. Uninstalled successfully.

I downgraded semi-successfully to iTunes7.2 in that the computer then recognised my iPod, but iTunes quits while scanning for gapless playback, so not much use.

I stripped iTunes from the imac again and have tried to install iTunes 6.0.5 but find that iTunes is greyed out and there is/appears to be nothing to install.

    Any help gratefully received.

    [Mac OS X 10.4.11 on G5 imac]

Question Re: I checked other forums how to downgrade iTunes but none of them worked for me....

    I'm experiencing a similar problem.

My 4th gen click wheel ipod will not sync with itunes 7.6. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the latest version of itunes to no avail.

I found this site and tried downloading an older version of itunes, but when I get to the install screen itunes is grayed out, and my machine tells me "you can not continue there is nothing to install"

I have definitely removed all vestiges of itunes 7.6 from my library folder.

Can anyone say why this does not work- or better yet how to fix it ?

    I'd be much appreciated.

    Thank you

Frustration lead to desperation and finally success!
Rae, I hope you get some too.

All library, preference, receipt and login files were as clean as a whistle, so by reckoning that if nothing was working it didn't matter what I moved into the trash and deleted.

I moved all album artwork files dated after about half way through last year (2007) onto my desktop although I'm not convinced that that was important (which is also why I didn't simply trash them).

I did another finder search and found an acknowledgement text file linked to itunes and dumped it in the trash and emptied it, and then did the same with an itunesX.pkg file that has eluded spotlight to date, and an itunes file that I noted was in "safe preferences". I'm a superficial mac user and haven't a clue what or where that is.

I don't know where they came from nor whether it is relevant, but the installer was no longer greyed out when I gave it one last chance (it didn't even produce the window with the greyed out bits) and I now have a good old fashioned version of itunes (6.0.5) currently updating my g4 clickwheel.
