Need iTunes/iPod help

okay, I have iTunes on my old computer and about 500-something songs on it, that Ive been updating my iPod to. Well I just recently got a new computer and what I wanna know is how can I get the songs from my old computer to my new one? My friend told me that I can install iTunes on to my new computer (I already installed it though), and then hook my iPod up to the new computer and that would copy the songs from my iPod to my computer.. Is that how it works? Thanks for the Help.

Use ipod as an external hard drive. Go to My Computer --> Open Ipod Drive

Copy all of your music files there and paste them into new computer.

You can use something like ourtunes for this. Its simple, easy and legal!
