Windows Media Player 11- please help!!

I got WMP 11 a little while ago, and everything was working fine- until I tried to download an mp3. What used to happen with my old WMP 9 was that I'd click on a direct link to an mp3 file (on, say, 3hive), and it would open up into WMP, where I could watch it buffer and play.

Now whenever I click a link, it opens in a new window and starts a lengthy downloaded of a quicktime file!! Is this some option, internet or otherwise, that I can change so the songs go back to opening into WMP? Thanks for your help!

This is an easy fix.

Go to WMP - 11. select more options. Select file types and make sure all of the file types are checked.

This would work!!! ...only, I don't seem to have that "File Types" tab =( Where did it go? There's a pic of my options panel here: http://i19.tinypic.com/3ycyp10.jpg

EDIT: I found out what was wrong there. But they've all been checked, and it still doesn't work =(

You can try this



Where is says "Choose a default Media Player" select WMP.

Thanks! I actually figured it out from your previous post, though. I just went into the File Types, then un-checked and re-checked the mp3 box, and it worked fine. I guess it was just a matter of reseting WMP to override Quicktime.
